St. George’s, July 8, 2010: Ministers of government of the National Democratic Congress administration are satisfied with the progress made in the past two years, despite the impact on the nation of the global economic and financial crisis.

The NDC was elected to office in July 2008 and within months, there was a collapse of major financial institutions in the United States, leading to a domino effect on the rest of the world. In the aftermath, there was a dramatic slowdown in foreign aid and investment, as well as in remittances to developing countries like Grenada.

St. George’s, July 8, 2010: Scores of people, headed by the leadership of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), gathered in St. Mark Sunday, July 4, for a commemorative event.

They attended a service at the Victoria Anglican Church to mark the second anniversary in office of the government led by Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas. The celebrants further socialised at a brunch which followed the service. A spirited NDC campaign led the party to an 11 – 4 general election victory on July 8, 2008. The NDC recently embarked on reorganising the party’s structures, including various organs and constituency branches.

Sunday’s activities included the re-opening the NDC’s Party Office in Victoria, as well as the official launch of the Women’s Arm of the Constituency Branch in St. Mark. NDC officials, including government ministers, also visited Diamond where work is ongoing for the establishment of a cocoa-processing plant in St. Mark.                                 

 NDC receives more assistance from Toronto supporters

Toronto, Canada, July 8, 2010: Toronto supporters of Grenada’s ruling National Democratic Congress continue to offer practical assistance and advice to the party’s leadership to help strengthen the NDC.

The NDC Toronto Support Group was instrumental in contributing to the recent refurbishing of the party’s secretariat on Lucas Street, St. George’s. Now the group has made a CAN$1,000 cash donation to help with further improvement of the party’s structure.

Leader of the National Democratic Congress, Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, will deliver a major address on Sunday, July 11, focusing on the state of the Party and outlining the plans of his government as they head into their third year in office.
